Blog Upgrades

If you come to the site, you may have noticed that the blog looks a little different.  We finally got around to installing the SharePoint Community Kit on our SharePoint server. Some reasons for the upgrade were:

  • We had a huge problem with spam comments.  Some people got hundreds a month.  The SharePoint Community Kit lets us add captcha to the comments.
  • Also with comments, no more hacking to get names and emails.  Excellent.
  • The blog templates have been updated to match the Vertigo site.  They look MUCH better now.
  • Feedburner support!  You’ll notice that I changed the RSS feed over to a Feedburner feed.  If you are subscribed to my blog currently, please change over the FeedBurner feed at http://feeds.feedburner.com/vertigobellis.  The old feed will continue to work, but this one helps me keep track of stats and stuff without so much hacking and guessing.

So that’s about it.  A big thanks to our in-house crew for upgrading.  As with everything SharePoint, it was not a pain-free process but it seems to have worked out.  Let us know what you think.
